J111 rudders and Custom Trimaran Parts

For anyone who has looked at or followed this blog– thanks– and sorry we did not update enough in the last months. Here are some photos from the last 4 weeks. Three Little Birds has proven herself a great boat. She has exceded 22 knots of boat speed with plenty left in the tank. She regularly sails at 17 knots and you can almost always count on better than 9 if there is any breeze above 7. Her accomadations have also proved comfortable. All together 3LB is a superlative craft. Myself, Dave W, and the owner could not be happier. We have two more weeks of sailing left. Hopefully we will be able to get some more action shots to post before the season ends. Next year she will be cruising New England all season as well as showing up on the race course competing against her sister ship and other worthy multihulls.

Pictured here the “birds” are flying upwind (33^ apparent) in smooth water with a reefed main, at 12.8 knots.
Three Little Birds has been launched, sailed, hauled for a Hurricane and re-launched. So far she has shown an incredible turn of speed in three days of trials. Next week she will be moored in Newport Harbor during the Newport International Boat Show. If you are interested in seeing her in person please E-mail me. There is a link on our web-site to E-mail direct to me.

It has been a while since we have added a new post. Lots has happened since our last post. The interior is finish painted and systems are nearing completion. Now we are ready to finish paint her for an August launching .. For now until we get the gloss on her here are the first shots of “Three Little Birds” out of the building shed.. By the way– The door is 30′ wide!
Dave Walworth has provided some renderings of the nearly finished 3-D model. This one is my personal favorite. The model is growing as the design nears completion of all the details. Not only is this a pretty picture it is also an exact duplicate of the actual boat / or more to the point the boat is an exact duplicate of the model. The interior structure, systems, and deck gear are all part of the model and we can take a 3-D section anywhere to create drawings and CNC tool paths for building or modifying any component or system of the boat.
