History

Aquidneck Custom Inc. focuses on building hi-quality custom boats for a clientele with an appreciation for excellence.

We recruited our core crew from the hi-tech world of grand prix race boats. Their collective experience includes the completion of more than 7 America's Cup Class boats, 4 Whitbread / Volvo round the world boats, various IOR, IMS, sleds, and Trans Pac 50s. Our highly skilled composite craftsmen were also trained in classic wooden boat building and joinery. This dynamic combination of talents allows ACC to produce some of the lightest, stiffest, most beautiful cruising yachts available today. ACC has been in business since 2001, our first official invoice being delivered in September of 2001.

We know tough times, and we know success due to smart hard work. Starting with a car trailer as our shop, we landed our first new construction contract in just 2 months of doing business. Two years later we built our current home in Bristol, RI. ACC is a company devoted to responsible fiscal management of our business, and yours. In 2001, our gross receipts were under $200,000. In 2007, they were more than 10 times that amount with our real property being our only debt. Even in 2011 during some very challenging economic times, Aquidneck continues to invest in the future. In 2011 we have added a computer controlled oven for processing pre-preg composite material. Our constant re–investment in business and crew has enabled our success and provided a superior shop to build your project in.

Our Facility

Built in Bristol's East Bay industrial park, we neighbor many other boat builders and spar builders. At our disposal are many talented Rhode Island marine tradesmen, as well as suppliers to the hi–tech composite industry. We expanded after our first year, doubling our shop to a full 10,000 square feet. We now feature our own CNC 3–axis router along with the necessary software, and an in–house programmer and operator. We previously worked out of our mobile shop and other builder's facilities. In 2011 we have added computer controlled electric oven foe processing pre-preg carbon composite materials.
